Chile is a land of breathtaking landscapes and diverse climates, making it a perfect haven for winemaking. Stretching from the Atacama Desert in the north to the glacial expanses of Patagonia in the south, Chile’s wine regions are as varied as its geography. Among the country's many gems, three producers stand out and will be featured here at Porron Cellars this weekend. Let's explore their world of wine! Baettig, Casas del Bosque, and Bodegas Volcanes. Let’s dive into what makes their wines exceptional and worth celebrating.

2021 Baettig Chardonnay Los Parientes

Baettig, located in the Traiguén region of southern Chile, is renowned for its precision and elegance in winemaking. The 2021 Baettig Chardonnay Los Parientes exemplifies these qualities with its stunning complexity and finesse. Crafted from grapes grown in cool-climate vineyards of red clay loam and volcanic soils and fermented in barrel then given 10 months in nuetral french oak barrels, this Chardonnay is a masterclass in balance, showcasing vibrant acidity, mineral undertones, and layers of citrus and stone fruit flavors.

Its prestige is well-earned, with numerous accolades including an impressive 95 points from James Suckling. This recognition solidifies Baettig’s place among Chile’s elite wineries, and the 2021 Los Parientes is a testament to their dedication to producing wines of the highest caliber.

2021 Casas del Bosque Gran Reserva Syrah

In the Casablanca Valley, known for its cool climate and maritime influences, Casas del Bosque has carved a niche for producing distinctive wines. The 2021 Gran Reserva Syrah is a standout example. Grown on a north-facing hill, the vineyard benefits from optimal sunlight and cool breezes, creating perfect conditions for slow ripening and flavor development.

This Syrah captivates with its deep color, aromas of dark berries and spices, and a palate that balances richness with freshness. Its unique terroir of iron rich red soils impart character that is both elegant and expressive, making it a true reflection of the Casablanca Valley.

Bodegas Volcanes: The Magic of Volcanic Terroir

Bodegas Volcanes is a winery that embraces Chile’s volcanic heritage, crafting wines that reflect the unique minerality of volcanic soils. This dedication is evident in their exceptional Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon. These wines stand out for their intensity, depth, and a distinctive smoky minerality that comes from the volcanic terroir.

The woman behind these remarkable wines is Pilar, the head winemaker, whose passion and expertise shine through in every bottle. Her leadership has elevated Bodegas Volcanes to a position of prominence, with wines that resonate with both critics and consumers.
